Welcome Weekend

Bring a friend to Church

A recent survey found that over 50% of non-church goers said that they would come to church if they were invited by a family member or friend.  A lot of these folks have fallen out of the habit of coming to Mass; it's not because of any "issue" with the Church.  People appreciate an invitation, even if they cannot accept, because it shows someone has thought enough of them to include them.  One of the youth representatives on our Parish Pastoral Council, Tanner Campbell, has proposed that we ask parishioners to invite someone to come to church with them.  The membership agreed.  And so, our parish Evangelization Commission, with the leadership of our Director of Faith Formation, Jeanne Cregan, has planned a special weekend of events with these folks in mind.  Holy Family will host our first Welcome Weekend on Oct. 27 - 29, with the hope that every parishioner/family will bring someone or even a family whom they know doesn't usually come to church.  In conjunction with our regular parish Masses, we have a number of special events planned for that weekend for adults, youth, and families.  This weekend's bulletin and our website have a full list.

This Welcome Weekend provides a special occasion and a reason for you to invite your friend, family member or neighbor to accompany you to Mass and enjoy one or more of these events taking place on the last weekend of October.  For planning purposes, we encourage you to sign up for Dinner, Drinks and Trivia event on Saturday after the 5 o'clock Mass and the Luncheon/Dr. Bernie Swain (Relevance of Faith & the Church in 2017) event on Sunday after the 10:30 Mass.  You can learn details about the Family Faith Fest after the 9 am Family Mass and the Dodgeball/Bonfire Teen event on Friday at 7 pm.   We could use your assistance with one or more of the weekend's activities to create a welcoming environment.  If you can help, please contact Jeanne at jcregan@holyfamilyduxbury.org / 781-934-5055, ext. 114.  Join me in praying that many infrequent attendees will find this Welcome Weekend to be a great opportunity to encounter Jesus and experience the joy of being part of our parish faith community!   And ask the Holy Spirit to direct you as you think about who you'll invite and then take this occasion to welcome them to enjoy this special weekend with you.
