The Epiphany of the Lord

Recently I mailed out to all registered parishioners a copy of our parish Annual Financial Report. Along with the report, I usually include a request for you to make a once-a-year “grand” gift to the parish to assist with the cost of maintenance, repairs, and renovations since the weekly offertory collection revenue only covers our regular operating expenses.

However, this year, the Grand Annual Appeal is being replaced with an appeal to help defray the cost of the recent parish center renovations and to provide an endowment to ensure that our parish ministries and the upkeep of our facilities will be adequately funded well into the future.

If you did not receive this mailing, copies are available at the doors of the church; and if it was because you have not yet registered in our parish, please do so by visiting www.holyfamilyduxbury.org. For those who have not yet contributed to Campaign 2.0 for these purposes, I ask you to donate online via our website, click on the “Giving” dropdown, then choose “Parish Center Renovations.” Or, you can place a check made out to Holy Family Parish in the envelope that accompanies the Annual Financial Report, and either mail it in, drop it in the offertory collection basket at Mass, or place it in the lock box at the head of the walkway leading to the parish center. Know that I am especially grateful for those parishioners who provide a generous gift to our parish. It is a wonderful sign of your commitment to support our mission here at Holy Family.

I take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank parishioners, Bob and Nancy Johnson who were instrumental in bringing about the parish center renovations. Nancy served as the architect, and Bob was the contractor for the project who also did a significant amount of the work himself. Parishioner, Ed Donavan and his company provided much of the electrical work. I am grateful to these parishioners and the many other individuals and companies who were involved in seeing this project to completion. It was often a marvel to witness the various people in the building trades share their talents and skills – evidence of God’s providence and creativity.
