We’ve been blessed with Fr. Bill William’s ministry here at Holy Family Parish for over 3½ years. He has been a “God-send” to me serving as a partner in ministry as a Senior Assistant by sharing some of our weekend and daily Masses, funerals, anointings, and confessions. In that time, we have become dear friends as well as colleagues. Additionally, he has become very fond of the many members of our parish who have welcomed him as a special part of our community.
His warm smile, gentle spirit, and wonderful humor has touched many hearts over these years, not to mention his prayerful celebration of Mass, his insightful homilies, and sensitive, pastoral counsel. As many of you know, Fr. Bill had a knee replaced recently and, in addition, he has had to deal with other health issues, which have caused him to reassess his ability to continue his ministry among us. As a result, in the near future, Fr. Bill will move to Regina Cleri, a residence in the West End of Boston for retired priests where he can obtain the care he needs.
As a way for our community to thank him for all that he has done for us and wish him well, we’ve invited Fr. Bill to concelebrate and preach at the 10:30 am Mass next Sunday, January 26. Afterwards, there will be a reception for him in the Monsignor Glynn Parish Center. All are welcome. Despite the fact that he will no longer be present on a regular basis here at Holy Family, it’s hoped that once he’s settled into his new home, he will be able to join us occasionally for Mass. Please pray for Fr. Bill as he makes this transition. May God bless him with health, happiness, and peace in the days ahead. We will truly miss him!
