Farewell and Thank You!

09-25-2022Pastor's CornerVery Rev. Robert J. Deehan, VF

As you may know, Jeanne Cregan, our parish Director of Faith Formation, will be leaving to take a new ministry position as Pastoral Associate for Evangelization and Outreach at Christ by the Sea Catholic Collaborative in Hull and Cohasset. She will begin her new job on a full-time basis on October 3. This is an exciting opportunity for her to grow professionally as a Lay Ecclesial Minister and to venture into a new and challenging ministry where she will serve two parishes.

Jeanne has many gifts to share, which many of us here at Holy Family have come to appreciate first hand. She stands out among all of the Lay Ecclesial Ministers I have worked with in my nearly 40 years as a priest as a “natural,” having an amazing combination of great pastoral instincts and judgement, excellent relational skills, ease and sensitivity dealing with her co-workers, volunteers and parishioners, depth of knowledge of the Catholic faith, enthusiasm in sharing her faith and effectively teaching our Catholic beliefs and way of life - all with a wonderful smile, sense of humor, and an engaging joyful spirit. She is truly committed to the evangelization mission of our Church and in particular, to discover new ways to reach out to those on the margins of our faith and the unchurched. Her contributions to our parish ministry and life are too numerous to count and extend beyond her job description responsibilities. Besides having led the transition from child-centered faith formation to a family-centered approach, Jeanne has provided general pastoral care to parishioners, led the process for writing our parish Disciples in Mission Pastoral Plan, offered several catechetical, spiritual and outreach programs for adults and liturgical ministers, including faith development opportunities for our staff. Holy Family Parish has been truly blessed to have Jeanne Cregan serve our community. She will be greatly missed!

With gratitude to God for all that she has been and done for us and for the wider Church, we send her forth with great hope for the future in the many ways she will continue to make a difference to the people of Christ by the Sea Catholic Collaborative in Hull and Cohasset, and beyond. I hope you will be able to come and offer Jeanne your prayers and best wishes at a farewell reception for her this Sunday, September 25 after the 10:30 Mass in the parish center. Please pray for that she will have a blessed, happy and fruitful ministry in her new position. God bless you!

Fr. Bob
