Truth Be Told

I was touched by a song I heard on K-Love Radio (95.5 FM) the other day that I’d like to share with you. It’s called Truth Be Told by Matthew West. The music video is available on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4wYkS8Z3Io. Here are some of the words:

Lie number one: you're supposed to have it all together
And when they ask how you're doing
Just smile and tell them, "Never better"

Lie number two: everybody's life is perfect except yours
So keep your messes and your wounds
And your secrets safe with you behind closed doors

Truth be told
The truth is rarely told, now

I say I'm fine, yeah I'm fine oh I'm fine,
hey I'm fine, but I'm not
I'm broken
And when it's out of control I say it's under control,
but it's not
And you know it
I don't know why it's so hard to admit it
When being honest is the only way to fix it
There's no failure, no fall
There's no sin you don't already know
So let the truth be told

Interestingly, about 2¼ million people have watched this music video and many more are enjoying a loop of the song, which automatically repeats for an hour! Comments reveal how much they, too, are touched by the song – most often because they identify with it. Are you trying to hold it together, feeling you need to put on a front - that nothing’s wrong, that everything’s “perfect?” But, what’s the truth? This Easter, LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD. First, admit it to yourself and to Jesus. We celebrate the fact that Jesus Christ understood our brokenness and entered into it. He knew we needed a Savior to offer mercy, forgiveness, healing, hope and strength because of our messes, our wounds and our secrets. New life came after the crucifixion. As you celebrate Easter, don’t just go through the motions. Let the truth be told to Jesus and invite His risen power to renew you in Spirit. He loves you still, and with His grace, He will help you through it. Just let him!
