Altar Care

The ministry of altar care consists of weekly care of Altar and Sacristy, Washing of Altar Cloths, Care of Plants and Flower Bouquets. If you would be interested in helping with the above, please call Maureen Taylor at 781-934-6289 or Mary Keefe at Holy Family, at 781-934-5055 x116.

Altar Servers

Open to children in third grade or older. Servers assist the priest at weekend Mass and are usually scheduled twice a month. Please call the parish office and leave your name and telephone number. Attendance at 2 training sessions is mandatory.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

These parishioners provide assistance distributing Holy Communion at Masses on a rotating basis, based on availability and Mass preference. A training program conducted by the parish is a prerequisite. Contact Tricia Fahey at 781-585-6465 for more information.

Lectors

Lectors are men and women of our parish (beginning with high school students who have been Confirmed) who communicate God's word by proclaiming the readings with clarity and enthusiasm. Training is offered in small group settings. Assignments are made on a rotating basis based on individual availability. Contact Ann Mickells 781-585-2702.

Ushers

Parishioners who assist with taking up the collection at Sunday Masses and who are available for special seating needs and emergencies. Contact Head Usher: Edward Derringh at 781-834-3244 or egderringh@verizon.net.

Adult Choir

If you are considering giving one of the choirs a try, we would love to have you. The Choir sings at the 10 am mass. The practice times for the Choir is Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 pm in the Main Church. Please call Mary Keefe at 781-934-5055 x116 for more details or click on this link.

Family Liturgy Choir

If you are third grade and up and are interested in the youth choir or children's choir, please call Mary Keefe 781-934-5055 x116. The Children's Choir sings at the 8:30 am Mass; Teens sing monthly at the 11:30 am Mass. Children's Choir rehearsals are Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.  For additional information, please click on this link.

Family Liturgy/Hospitality

This Mass, celebrated each Sunday at 8:30 am during the school year, is an opportunity for young families and children to experience a meaningful and joyful celebration of Mass. Full and active participation of school-age children is encouraged through gathering at the altar at appropriate moments during Mass, the reading of the Scriptures, music ministry, greeting, and altar serving. Coffee and donuts are offered in the Parish Center immediately following Mass (please contact Nancy Lyons at coadylyons@comcast.net to assist with this). All families are invited and welcome to experience the Family Mass.

Eucharist Home Visitors

All trained Eucharistic Ministers are invited to bring Communion and provide company to homebound parishioners. Contact Tina Bruce at 781-837-5682.       

Eucharist/Nursing Home

Parishioners who lead prayer and bring Holy Communion to Catholics at the Bay Path Nursing Home. Please call Ginny Williams at 781-934-5567 for more information.

Eucharist/Duxbury Village

Parishioners who bring Holy Communion, lead prayer and visit with residents at the Village. Contact Don Mickells at 781-585-2702 for more information.

Baptismal Robes

A group of parishioners who sew the Baptismal garments used in the infant Baptism ceremony. Contact the parish office (781-934-5055) for more information.

Art and the Environment

The Art & Environment ministry is comprised of a group that is responsible for enhancing the beauty of our church to help provide an atmosphere for worship.  Their efforts include seasonal decorations for Advent, Christmas, Lent & Easter.  Among them also are the Advent wreath, the altar "desert", door hangings, maintenance of plants/flowers, presentation of palms, Holy week items for the Triduum and preparation of the chapel for Holy Thursday adoration.  Also part of the Art & Environment is the Altar Guild, whose volunteers maintain all the linens for Mass both in the main church and the chapel--the altar cloths, the small purificators for the cups, the small tablecloths and the priest's vestments.  Contacts:  Mary Keefe, 781-934-5055 x116  mkeefe@holyfamilyduxbury.org; Yvonne Pierce, 781-834-9970  yvonne@saltrose.com; Andrea Heinstadt, 781-934-6652 heinstaj@comcast.net; Maureen Taylor, 781-934-6289 mojotaylor4@comcast.net

 

FAITH FORMATION/SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT

Baptism Preparation

Instruction provided to couples who request to have their first child baptized. Contact the parish office (781-934-5055) to register for this preparation session and for the Sacrament of Baptism.            

R.C.I.A.

The process through which adults are prepared and initiated into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. This also includes baptized Christians from other denominations and those only baptized Catholic but who wish to come into full communion with the Catholic community. The RCIA team welcomes active parishioners who are generous with their time to walk with newcomers as they grow in faith and celebrate these sacraments. Our Lady’s Prayer Group

All are welcome to join this group of parishioners who pray the Rosary and offer prayers for the intentions of our parishioners every Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm in the chapel. Contact Michelle Keller at 781-934-6735 for more information.

Eucharistic Adoration

All are welcome to adore the Lord Jesus in the Holy Eucharist displayed in the monstrance every Friday in our chapel beginning at 9 am and concluding with Evening Prayer and Benediction at 5 pm. Call Carole McCarthy at 781-934-5301 if you would like to sign-up to provide prayerful "security" for an hour during this time period. On First Fridays, the period of adoration is extended through the night until the 8:15 am Mass on Saturday. If you would like to sign up for an hour to assure that we have at least two people present during this 24 hour period of adoration, please contact Jeff Bishop at jbishopdux@gmail.com.

Bible Study

Daytime Bible Study's mission is to promote spiritual growth, to help participants apply their faith to everyday living and to enjoy Christian fellowship through the study of the Word of God and sharing of faith.  Daytime Bible Study meets September through June on Thursdays, 9:30 am-11:30 am beginning in September and ending in June.  All parishioners are invited to attend for scripture study,fellowship and personal faith sharing.  If you are interested in additional information, please contact Katey Cullen, 781-934-7228  kateycullen@msn.com

Distinguished Speakers Series

The Speakers Series' aim is to provide an adult education program that will focus on questions that people raise today about our Christian beliefs and values.  The committee consists of 10 members of Holy Family Parish.  Topics are determined with the help of a survey taken at the end of the April Program.  For more information, please contact MaryJane Noel, 781-582-2994  mj.noel@verizon.net

Book Club

This group meets monthly to discuss books chosen by its members concerning topics of a spiritual nature (fiction, biography, poetry, etc.). These topics serve as a springboard for faith sharing. PARISH LIFE

Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)

A consultative body of parishioners who provide the pastor and staff with helpful input and support addressing the pastoral, liturgical, spiritual, educational and social aspects of parish life. Finance Council

Catholic Crew Youth Group

The Catholic Crew is our Holy Family parish youth group that encourages activities and connections among young adults from both middle school and high school as they pursue their Christian life. Women’s Club

The Holy Family Women's Club is open to all women of the parish. We meet the second Thursday of each month from September to June. Annual dues are $20; $15 for seniors. We offer a variety of monthly programs. Our club brings together women of all ages in both a spiritual and social way. Membership is always open. Healing Hearts

"Living Through Loss" support group is for those who are hurting from the loss of someone close to them. New people are welcome at any time. If you are interested or have questions, please call Deacon Art at 781-585-4444. 

Respect Life

The mission of this group is to raise awareness of the sacredness of all human life through various activities, through education, and through prayer. Fundraising events, such as selling silk Roses for Life on Mother's Day and parish "baby showers" support the Friends of the Unborn Home for unwed mothers. They participate in the Walk for Life in Boston in October and the March for Life in Washington, DC in January. They alert parishioners to upcoming life issues in order to contact our legislators as well as post notices regarding Project Rachel retreats and other life-affirming programs. Prison Ministry

Evangelization Committee

A.S.P. (Appalachia Service Project)

Adults and teens serve poor residents of Appalachia for one week in the summer by repairing their homes. Year-long preparation and fundraising activities precede this experience. St. Vincent de Paul

Named after its founder St. Vincent de Paul, this society is part of an international Catholic organization of lay persons founded in 1833. As a parish group, support is provided to the community financially, spiritually, and pastorally. Confidential help, be it food baskets, paying rent or utility bills, or auto repairs can be arranged. St. Vincent de Paul also sponsors and runs an annual clothing drive at the parish. St. Vincent de Paul donation boxes are located at the doors of the church. Lazarus Committee

Lazarus is comprised of volunteer parishioners, who if requested, can provide light refreshments of sandwiches with salad or pastries with coffee and tea, immediately following a funeral. Refreshments are served in the Parish Center, based on availability, and can be requested through the Parish Office 781-934-5055. Donations are gratefully accepted.

My Brother’s Keeper

If you would like to donate new or used furniture in excellent condition to MBK, please call Jim Sullivan at 781-936-8904. MBK is also looking for gently used linens, pots & pans, and kitchen wares. To donate these items, call Evan Tarbox. at 617-877-4181.

Adult Prayer Shawl
